On Learning to Sing

Voice training can be a beautifully practical endeavor as well as a creative journey without a finite ending point.  Voice study allows the singer to take technical and artistic areas of learning and translate them to emotional expression.  Courage, perseverance and an open mind are key to becoming a great singer.  The voice studio is a safe and constructive environment where the student can be free to try new ways of thinking and to experiment with new sounds.   Singing, at its most sublime, unites mind, body, and spirit.  It can carry us to a place unreachable by any other path.

The Adult Voice can enjoy great refreshment by way of a technique tune-up. It is wonderful to know that the singing voice grows richer with age. Clear Technical Understanding and a more fine-tuned Coordination help the Adult Singer to enjoy the gift of expressive singing as long as there are songs to sing!

On the Practical Side

The minimum age for beginning voice study is generally 15. Each voice matures at its own rate. An initial consultation can determine the student's readiness to start voice study.

Lessons are weekly. Regular attendance as well as steady practice will yield the best results. The recording of the lesson can also be a helpful tool.

Payment either in advance, or at the time of the lesson is requested.

The Lesson Time is reserved exclusively for the student.
24 hour advance notice of cancellation is required
The student must pay for any lessons not cancelled in advance.
In this, as in all things, there is also grace and sometimes forgiveness!

The student should bring a blank cassette audio tape, their music and all instructional materials to each lesson.  Assistance will be provided in ordering music as necessary.
